Do we need a Fishing License?
Fishing Licenses
Yes, all anglers participating in recreational fishing from a boat in Costa Rica are required to have a valid fishing license issued by INCOPESCA (Instituto Costarricense de Pesca y Acuicultura). Licenses can be purchased online or at local marinas and are typically valid for 8 days. Shore fishing does not require a license.
Note: Individuals under 16 years of age are exempt from this requirement
